I love cyclamen for their winter color and
mottled leaves.  Linda nurtures them and they
bloom again and again..

During monsoon season (July - August), it often rains in
the afternoon.  The clouds don't stay long and brilliant
rainbows are a delightful reward. This one was a
pleasant surprise for travelers through Tijeras Canyon.

For me, loving New Mexico is a lot about the
Mountains.  This pony is right at home in a
valley nestled in the Manzanos.

The Three Sisters are used generously in New
Mexican cuisine, almost always accompanied by
Chili.  This likely dates to early Native American
cultures, who have known the healthful benefits
of this combination for centuries.

There is such an amazing blend of cultures in
New Mexico.  Here we see a Spanish Pueblo
style house with Crosses at the gate and an
offering of 3 Sisters (corn, beans and squash)
honoring the Native American tradition.

Designed around ruins of the historic La Cueva Mill
and it's adobe house, the Salman Raspberry Ranch
Gardens are a delight, particularly mid to late
summer.  Raspberries are available in late
summer-early Autumn in this cool mountain climate.

The Shepherd

Recently, I met a man who told me he is a
shepherd in the Jemez Mountains.  This is my
vision of The Shepherd.  It is one of the charms of
this area that, although their lives are hard, many
people continue the old ways.
Sometimes you just want a little whimsey in
your life.  Coffee is one of my daily pleasures.
